Proponents of “diversity” are upset about Vanity Fair magazines latest issue because all of the models on the cover are white. The latest issue of the magazine is dedicated to showcasing celebrities who the magazine predicts will be the new “it” in 2010. The cover of the March issue features Abbie Cornish, Kristen Stewart, Carey Mulligan, Amanda Seyfried, Rebecca Hall, Mia Wasikowska, Emma Stone, Evan Rachel Wood, and Anna Kendrick.
Although every woman on the list has gained notoriety and media attention for their acting, proponents of “diversity” complain that “every woman on its (Vanity Fair’s) new cover is extremely thin and very, very white.” They ask, “were there no promising young actors of color who could have been featured in the issue?” “Vanity Fair may have been looking for the most promising batch of talent for their issue, but they should have been looking for a diverse group of women as well.”

According to senior immigration officials, Greece has now become the frontline of migration to the EU. “Greece is Fortress Europe’s weakest link,” said one EU official, who added that for traffickers bent on ferrying human cargo to the west, its borders were like a “big open door”.
Last week in northern France, police used bulldozers to clear immigrants from the Calais camp known as the “jungle”. But the problem there is dwarfed by the unfolding drama in the Greek islands.
Mytilene, off the coast of Turkey, and other tourist magnets can receive up to 500 “illegals” a day, according to authorities, and have become the favoured entry points into Europe for thousands from Afghanistan and Iraq.
“They’re coming in by the boatload from Turkey at all hours of the night and day,” said Nikoloas Zacharis, vice-prefect of Samos, another Aegean island. “It’s uncontrollable.”

Latest figures from Statistics Sweden reveal that in the last 50 years the number of foreigners living in Sweden or those with two foreign-born parents has risen from four to nearly 20 percent.
A new report from Statistics Sweden (Statistiska Centralbyrån, SCB) reveals there are around 1.6 million foreigners currently residing in the country from a total population of 9.3 million.
Annika Klinterfeldt, SCB population analyst told The Local the numbers are not surprising, with the total now surpassing 17 percent and edging ever closer to the 20 percent mark.
“If we look at the trend over the last 50 years we can see growth in number of between 0.1-0.2 percent every year.
“Back in 1960, foreigners or those with two foreign-born parents made up four percent of the population. It’s been quite high for the last few years and we expect it to continue,” she added.
Those included in the figures are defined by having lived in Sweden for one year or more, although they do not have to be Swedish citizens.
Statistics Sweden does not differentiate between immigrants who have come to Sweden for asylum reasons and others who have moved here for love or work.

The White House’s announcement that President Obama had no plans to travel to Madrid for a EU-US summit took the Brussels establishment by surprise.
“There were no plans for the president [Barack Obama] to travel to Spain for a summit this spring,” National Security Council spokesman Mike Hammer insisted in Washington on 1 February.
Without Obama’s attendance, it is more likely that the summit will now be cancelled rather than downgraded.

The looting appears to be isolated to Port-au-Prince’s old commercial center. It’s an area that under normal circumstances would be filled with many shops, markets and a few homes. But on Wednesday it was a completely different scene. It looked like a war zone. Some of the buildings were on fire. Smoke was everywhere and there were bodies in the streets, many just quake victims lying where they were when the magnitude 7.0 blast hit. What made the situation that much more tense was sightings of gangs of young men with machetes. On Wednesday they were seen getting into stores and taking all the supplies they could carry. The armed men were seen marching up and down the streets with machetes raised and the competition among the gangs turned quite fierce. Fights between gangs were seen on the streets. Machetes were flailing and it was impossible to predict what would happen next. There was no sign of police or any kind of law and order.”

Bogus students who were refused or would have been rejected under the old regime are being waved through even though border control staff are convinced they are not genuine.
It makes a mockery of the Government’s claim that the points-based system has tightened the student visa route and will renew concerns that terrorists, extremists and criminals can easily exploit it to gain entry to Britain.
David Cameron, the Conservative leader, yesterday warned that many immigrants were arriving in the United Kingdom claiming to be students while actually seeking work. He proposed a cap on immigration. The Origins of Hogmanay

While New Year’s Eve is celebrated around the world, the Scots have a long rich heritage associated with this event – and have their own name for it, Hogmanay.
There are many theories about the derivation of the word “Hogmanay”. The Scandinavian word for the feast preceding Yule was “Hoggo-nott” while the Flemish words (many have come into Scots) “hoog min dag” means “great love day”. Hogmanay could also be traced back to the Anglo-Saxon, Haleg monath, Holy Month, or the Gaelic, oge maidne, new morning. But the most likely source seems to be the French. “Homme est né” or “Man is born” while in France the last day of the year when gifts were exchanged was “aguillaneuf” while in Normandy presents given at that time were “hoguignetes”. Take your pick!
In Scotland a similar practice to that in Normandy was recorded, rather disapprovingly, by the Church.
Hogmanay Traditional Celebrations
Historians believe that we inherited the celebration from the Vikings who, coming from even further north than ourselves, paid even more attention to the passing of the shortest day. In Shetland, where the Viking influence was strongest, New Year is called Yules, from the Scandinavian word.
It may not be widely known but Christmas
was not celebrated as a festival and virtually banned in Scotland for around 400 years, from the end of the 17th century to the 1950s. The reason for this has its roots in the Protestant Reformation when the Kirk portrayed Christmas as a Popish or Catholic feast and therefore had to be banned. Many Scots had to work over Christmas and their winter solstice holiday was therefore at New Year when family and friends gathered for a party and exchange presents, especially for the children, which came to be called hogmanay.

There are traditions before midnight such as cleaning the house on 31st December (including taking out the ashes from the fire in the days when coal fires were common). There is also the superstition to clear all your debts before “the bells” at midnight. Some of these customs do continue, especially in the small, older communities in the Highlands and Islands of Scotland where tradition, along with language and dialect are kept alive and well. On the Isle of Lewis, in the Outer Hebrides, the young boys form themselves into opposing bands, the leader of each wears a sheep skin, while a member carries a sack. The bands move through the village from house to house reciting a Gaelic rhyme. On being invited inside, the leader walks clockwise around the fire, while everyone hits the skin with sticks. The boys would be given some bannocks – fruit buns – for their sack before moving on to the next house. One of the most spectacular Fire ceremonies takes place in Stonehaven, just south of Aberdeen on the North East coast. Giant fireballs, weighing up to 20 pounds are lit and swung around on five feet long metal poles, requiring 60 men to carry them as they march up and down the High Street. The origin of the pre-Christian custom is believed to be linked to the Winter Solstice of late December with the fireballs signifying the power of the sun, to purify the world by consuming evil spirits.

Every big city is international and it is impossible to avoid that. Once a city has peopled and population limit exceeded at least several millions, a sea of immigrants in the search of work and easy money start flooding the city out and it becomes hectic and busy. As soon as such a thing has already happened, it would be hardly possible to prevent the collision of different religions because most of people around anyone of us are not alike.
And this very thing has happened some 10 days ago when into the streets of two capitals of Russia, Moscow which is a business and official capital of the country and the city of Saint-Petersburg which has long been considered as a cultural capital of Russia, got out thousands of Muslim emigrants prepared to give themselves to the ritual rite. That’s exactly where the two alien cultures and religions began staring right into the eyes of each other quite grimly. But was it really some kind of silly misunderstanding or is there any blind spot, so-to-say cultural gap, some thing that sit tights deeper that we can imagine and that we are facing at the moment?
Eid al-Adha or as it called otherwise Festival of Sacrifice is a Muslim annual holiday which is usually accompanied by a ritual sacrifice of sheep to prove their obedience to God. The rite was held nearby the center of Saint-Petersburg city. This mass slaughter of animals spurred the wave of complaints among the city’s inhabitants.
The only thing that residents of the city could make out of the mass killing is a blazing cruelty and vulgarity. But there must be some other reason to stand for it. Maybe the reasons aren’t national? And it is not about religion at all. The roots of the problem go deep into the social and even sociocultural grounds.
All these people arrived to the big cities because they need somehow to earn money and to help their families. But it is not an easy thing to do at their mother soil and poor life conditions are barely oppressing. There is one solid answer to the question. All these people came from country and it is clear that for a usual town it would be looking bizarre, but for them all these things are natural. There is one old Russian saying: “Brawn instead of brain.” But is the game worth of candle? Or would we sink to the level of the wild beasts and display our frank aggression?
No, I don’t think it is a right thing to do. As it was said in the beginning of the article, every one of us is different. And the answer to this question is kept in your head. There is only one thing you should do, pull your socks a bit up, rack it there and fetch it out.

Doing research last night I came across the article named below. Just when I think I’ve seen it all now this! OK this is just stupid. Whats with this PC Non-sense. The Name of a Country [Nigeria] has to be censored now because It just might offend someone? On Yahoo Buzz?

I suppose they are going to want to Change the Countries name along with the name of the Niger and the Niger River now because it might offend someone.
