Labour encouraged mass immigration even though it knew that voters opposed it, Whitehall documents confirmed yesterday.
The Government said the public disagreed with immigration because of ‘racism’ and ministers were told to try to alter public attitudes. The thinking on immigration among Labour leaders was set down in 2000 in a document prepared for the Cabinet Office and the Home Office, but the key passages were suppressed before it was published.
The paper was finally disclosed under freedom of information rules yesterday. They were also told that large-scale immigration would bring increases in crime, but they concealed these concerns from the public.
Sections of the paper, which underpinned Labour policies that admitted between two and three million immigrants to Britain in less than a decade, have already been made public.
These have showed that Labour aimed to use immigration not only for economic reasons but also to change the social make-up of the country. Fuller details released yesterday showed that Tony Blair’s ministers opened the doors to mass migration in knowledge of public opposition and with the view that those who disagreed with them were racists.
Yesterday Shadow Home Secretary Chris Grayling said: ‘The Government has simply not been telling the truth about its policies on immigration.
IMMIGRATION CONTROLS RELAX
The points-based system, introduced last year, was designed to ease concern over the impact of mass immigration of low-skilled and low-paid workers, particularly in traditional Labour-voting areas.
Success for the scheme is central to Labour’s pledge that the population will not be allowed to reach 70million. ‘More and more evidence is now emerging to show that they deliberately planned a big jump in immigration for their own political purposes.
‘Now they are trying to rewrite history to pretend those decisions never happened. Their conduct over all of this has been a complete disgrace.’

In March, the Supreme Court is to begin hearing oral arguments in a case that may breathe new life into the field of human rights law in the United States, by exposing foreign government officials to civil liability for war crimes and other violations of international law—even when the crimes occurred in their own country, and no US citizen’s rights are involved. In Samantar v. Yousef, a panel of the 4th Circuit Court of Appeals in Richmond, Va., unanimously held last January that the protection of the Foreign Sovereign Immunities Act (FSIA) of 1976, which shields foreign governments from suit in US courts, does not extend to individuals.
The defendant in the case, Mohamed Ali Samantar, is a former official of the Somali regime of Maj. Gen. Mohamed Siad Barre. Samantar, now a resident of Virginia, was sued for acts of torture, rape, and extrajudicial killing committed under his oversight. Samantar was sued personally, rather than the state of Somalia, which has not had a functioning central government since 1991, when the Barre regime collapsed.
The court also reviewed the legislative history of the FSIA, and found that Congress must have intended the Act to apply only to states. “If Congress meant to include individuals acting in [their] official capacity in the scope of the FSIA, it would have done so in clear and unmistakable terms,” The Samantar case solidifies a split in opinion among various courts of appeals. Now the Fourth and Seventh Circuits have held that sovereign immunity does not extend to government officials, while the Second, Fifth, Sixth, Ninth, and D.C. Circuits have held that it does.
In a case of strange political bedfellows, the Zionist Organization of America, Anti-Defamation League and the American Jewish Congress, along with several other pro-Israel organizations, have filed three separate Amicus Curiae briefs on Samantar’s behalf in the case.
According to the American Jewish Congress, “Our interest is, of course, Israel, which finds itself engaged in law-fare as well as warfare, courts around the world being another battlefield on which Israel finds itself engaged.”
The UK is one of several countries allowing criminal complaints to be brought by war crimes victims under the theory of “universal jurisdiction.” The United States should never be a haven for war criminals.

The Telegraph reports that thousands of illegal immigrants have been granted what the paper describes as “squatters’ rights” to remain in Britain permanently after proving they have lived here for 14 years.
A little-known rule, introduced in 2003, allows illegal immigrants to claim “indefinite leave to remain”
if they manage to live in Britain’s black economy for long enough or are failed asylum seekers who manage to avoid deportation.
After 14 years they can apply to the Home Office which considers factors such as “compassionate circumstances, strength of connection to the UK and previous criminal record”, before deciding whether an illegal immigrant will be allowed to stay.
If successful, the immigrant will then be allowed full access to the welfare state and be eligible to apply for a British passport.
Since rules changed in April 2003, 7,245 illegals have won the right to live here permanently – more than 1,000 a year on average. It is likely that many paid no income tax during the 14 years they spent in Britain.
The Home Office estimated in 2005 that the illegal immigrant population in Britain was between 310,000 and 570,000 but other groups such as Migrationwatch UK, which campaigns against mass immigration, have put the figure far higher.
Migrationwatch UK now believes the true number of illegal immigrants could be as high as one million. Damian Green, the shadow immigration minister, said: “What disturbs me most is how many more people will be able to establish this type of squatters’ rights to stay in this country.
“Rewarding illegal behaviour is always bad, and there ought to be a lot more effort put into stopping people getting to this 14 year level.
“One of the reasons why we want to set up a specialist border police force is to prevent people being able to stay here for many years entirely below the radar.”

As for “Wilders’s witnesses,” he submitted a list of 18, and the Amsterdam court rejected no fewer than 15 of them. As with Commissar MacNaughton and her troika of pseudo-judges presiding over the Maclean’s trial in British Columbia, it’s easier to make the rules up as you go along.

It’s not “ironic” that the most liberal country in western Europe should be the most advanced in its descent into a profoundly illiberal hell. It was entirely foreseeable. Geert Wilders is stating the obvious: a society that becomes more Muslim will have fewer gays. Last year, the Rainbow Palace, formerly Amsterdam’s most popular homo-hotel (relax, that’s the Dutch word for it), announced it was renaming itself the Sharm and reorienting itself to Islamic tourism. Or as the website allah.eu put it: “Gay Hotel Turns Muslim.”
Yet, despite its significance, the trial has received relatively little coverage in the Western media, in part because, for those of a multiculti bent, there’s no easy way to blur the reality—that this is a political prosecution by a thought police so stupid they don’t realize they’re delegitimizing the very institutions of the state. Still, the BBC gave it their best shot, concluding their report thus: “Correspondents say his Freedom Party (PVV), which has nine MPs in the lower house of parliament, has built its popularity largely by tapping into the fear and resentment of Muslim immigrants.”
Gotcha. This democracy business is all very well, but let’s face it, the people are saps, gullible boobs, racist morons, knuckle-dragging f–kwits.

Dubai has said it will issue an arrest warrant for the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu if Mossad is proved to be behind the killing of a Hamas leader in the sheikhdom.
The Israeli premier would have been the first one to have signed the order to kill, Dubai’s police chief Dahi Khalfan said on Thursday.
According to the police chief, the method used in the assassination is one used by Mossad.
The senior Hamas military commander Mahmoud al-Mabhouh was killed in his hotel room in Dubai on January 20th.
According to the London Times, the hit men subjected Mabhouh to an injection which induced a heart attack, photographed the documents in his briefcase and left a “Do Not Disturb” sign on the door of the hotel room where the crime was committed.
Hamas has accused Israel of carrying out the hit. In a statement, the movement said, “We hold Israel responsible for the assassination of our brother and leader.”
The 50-year-old Mabhouh was one of the founders of Ezzedine al-Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of Hamas.
UPDATE:
“The first results of a joint investigation by Hamas and the (United Arab) Emirates show he was killed by an electrical appliance that was held to his head,” Fayed al-Mabhuh said.
“Material was sent to a Paris laboratory which confirmed he was killed by electric shock,” he added.

A poll for popular newspaper Bild am Sonntag found that 53pc of Germans wanted Greece to be expelled from the euro if necessary in the coming months. Two-thirds were adamantly against German money being put towards a bail-out of the troubled country, the paper also found.
The findings underline the dilemma faced by eurozone ministers, who last week pledged to support the country if necessary, but stopped short of unveiling an explicit bail-out. The euro fell to nine-month lows on Friday, and many expect further falls this week, as investors expressed disappointment that ministers had failed to set out a detailed plan of action to prevent the country from defaulting.
Having unveiled a budget deficit far in excess of expectations earlier this year, the Greek government has been struggling to raise money in capital markets, seeing the interest rates on its debt and the cost of insuring it against default increasing sharply. Some fear that the country will need some form of extraordinary assistance if it is to avoid defaulting on its debt.
But French proposals for a bail-out funded by some of the less stricken eurozone nations met with fierce resistance from the German Chancellor, Angela Merkel, at a European Council meeting in Brussels last Thursday. The German constitution has legal restrictions on any prospective bail-outs of other nations. However, it is the scale of public disapproval for such a move that is of particular concern to German politicians. The proposals have created fractures in the country’s ruling coalition, with Mrs Merkel’s coalition partners, the Free Democrats, aggressively resisting such a move. The party’s Treasury spokesman Otto Fricke said: “Solving this problem cannot be about aid for Greece. If anything, it’s about keeping any damage away from German taxpayers.”

Astonishingly, it is understood Miss Marjam found the house on the internet through a private letting agency, rather than waiting for Westminster council to give her a vacant property on their books.

Last week-end, almost a thousand taxi drivers in the Norwegian capital Oslo and neighboring municipality Bærum went on what could be called a religious strike. Both on Friday evening and Monday morning, Muslim taxi drivers refused to drive in protest against Wednesday’s front page of the Norwegian tabloid paper Dagbladet. That day, the tabloid ran an article about some of the “dangerous” pages the website of the Norwegian security service PST links to, and illustrated that with a screen shot of a cartoon showing the prophet Muhammad as a pig trampling the Qur’an.
Let’s not be naive: the tabloid Dagbladet knew very well that it would create a new controversy when it put the cartoon on its front page. By its very nature, this type of newspaper depends on shocking front pages. Just like its biggest competitor in the market, VG, you can’t get Dagbladet delivered to your door every morning, but have to go out and buy it at a shop. Therefore, its front page usually carries a big fat title involving celebrities, sex and violence – if possible, all three of them together – but occasionally, politics or religion will do as well. Apparently, on 3 February, Dagbladet’s best shot at getting as many copies as possible sold was to put the cartoon, which already caused a stir in the nineties of the previous century, on is front page.

Although every woman on the list has gained notoriety and media attention for their acting, proponents of “diversity” complain that “every woman on its (Vanity Fair’s) new cover is extremely thin and very, very white.” They ask, “were there no promising young actors of color who could have been featured in the issue?” “Vanity Fair may have been looking for the most promising batch of talent for their issue, but they should have been looking for a diverse group of women as well.”

Greek authorities are desperately trying to cope with a surge of migrants on to the country’s islands which has left detention centres overflowing.
Last week, amid chaotic scenes, hundreds of migrants demonstrated against “inhuman conditions” in a detention camp on Mytilene, the capital of Lesbos, in a protest that saw hunger-striking minors setting fire to mattresses and attacking guards. The clashes highlighted the rising anger on island outposts that are being overwhelmed by a double influx of holidaymakers and illegal migrants.
According to senior immigration officials, Greece has now become the frontline of migration to the EU. “Greece is Fortress Europe’s weakest link,” said one EU official, who added that for traffickers bent on ferrying human cargo to the west, its borders were like a “big open door”.
Last week in northern France, police used bulldozers to clear immigrants from the Calais camp known as the “jungle”. But the problem there is dwarfed by the unfolding drama in the Greek islands.
Mytilene, off the coast of Turkey, and other tourist magnets can receive up to 500 “illegals” a day, according to authorities, and have become the favoured entry points into Europe for thousands from Afghanistan and Iraq.
“They’re coming in by the boatload from Turkey at all hours of the night and day,” said Nikoloas Zacharis, vice-prefect of Samos, another Aegean island. “It’s uncontrollable.”

Latest figures from Statistics Sweden reveal that in the last 50 years the number of foreigners living in Sweden or those with two foreign-born parents has risen from four to nearly 20 percent.
A new report from Statistics Sweden (Statistiska Centralbyrån, SCB) reveals there are around 1.6 million foreigners currently residing in the country from a total population of 9.3 million.
Annika Klinterfeldt, SCB population analyst told The Local the numbers are not surprising, with the total now surpassing 17 percent and edging ever closer to the 20 percent mark.
“If we look at the trend over the last 50 years we can see growth in number of between 0.1-0.2 percent every year.
“Back in 1960, foreigners or those with two foreign-born parents made up four percent of the population. It’s been quite high for the last few years and we expect it to continue,” she added.
Those included in the figures are defined by having lived in Sweden for one year or more, although they do not have to be Swedish citizens.
Statistics Sweden does not differentiate between immigrants who have come to Sweden for asylum reasons and others who have moved here for love or work.

The western world has been here before. In Asia, Africa, and the Middle East after the second world war, the US extended its geopolitical pre-eminence and market dominance, filling a vacuum where the exhausted British and European empires once held sway. Facing serious competition only from the Soviet Union, America supplanted the “old world” and took control. The end of the cold war entrenched its global grip.

A CBS TV article reports: “The earthquake aftermath has brought out the best and worst of the people of Haiti. Much like the days after Hurricane Katrina, looting has become a problem very quickly. The looting appears to be isolated to Port-au-Prince’s old commercial center. It’s an area that under normal circumstances would be filled with many shops, markets and a few homes. But on Wednesday it was a completely different scene. It looked like a war zone. Some of the buildings were on fire. Smoke was everywhere and there were bodies in the streets, many just quake victims lying where they were when the magnitude 7.0 blast hit. What made the situation that much more tense was sightings of gangs of young men with machetes. On Wednesday they were seen getting into stores and taking all the supplies they could carry. The armed men were seen marching up and down the streets with machetes raised and the competition among the gangs turned quite fierce. Fights between gangs were seen on the streets. Machetes were flailing and it was impossible to predict what would happen next. There was no sign of police or any kind of law and order.”
