Christian/conservative watchdog groups are sounding the alarm against unprecedented TV sex and profanity now luring girls aged 12-17. The CW television network’s Gossip Girls show, according to Parents TV Council:

…glamorizes casual sex and drug use among teens…There has been a prolonged, graphic sex scene between two teenaged characters…drugs and drinking are presented as glamorous, easy to obtain, and part of everyday life…Storylines have featured…threesomes among teens and teenage girls having sex with adults. Also included have been multiple scenes of teens drinking, smoking pot and having sex…Parents on this series are also portrayed as distant, uncaring, and are depicted as using their children for personal gain and not seeming concerned about their welfare or happiness.

CW’s new ad campaign features print and web ads—one in which a teen boy kisses an actress’s cleavage. These ads feature huge letters across an erotic image; the letters read either OMG (“Oh, my God!”) or OMFG—the translation of which is unprintable! CW uses such messages to impact girls at least as young as 12.

The U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO) — the auditing arm of the U.S. Congress — warns that the nation’s deficits and debts are now so overwhelming, America may face fiscal Armageddon.

Unfortunately, the warning has fallen on deaf ears — so much so that long-time GAO head David M. Walker has recently resigned, hoping he can get his message out more effectively on his own. His main points:

1. The federal deficit is not something that comes and goes. It’s built in. It’s very large. And its growth trajectory takes America on a veritable collision course with bankruptcy! According to the GAO, unless radical fiscal reform is instituted quickly, the U.S. federal deficit could reach 20% of GDP , or five times greater than the worst level of this century.

2. State and local deficits are on a similar path. Thus, any efforts to shift some of the fiscal burden from federal to local governments will be futile.

3. This astronomical — and potentially devastating — growth in our debt has little to do with the ups and downs in the economy and has everything to do with locked-in, predictable aging of our population.

BRUSSELS , May 5: The President of the European Commission, Jose Manuel Barroso, underlined here Monday that Islam is part and parcel of Europe and he also condemned the concept of clash of civilisations.

“Islam today is part of Europe. It is important to understand this.One should not see Islam as outside Europe. We already have an important presence of Islam and Muslims among our citizens,” Barroso told a press conference this afternoon after an informal dialogue between EU leaders and around twenty high-level representatives of Christianity, Judaism and Islam in Europe.

“We can be a European citizen being a Christian, being Jewish or Muslim or having no religion,” he noted.

On his part, the Grand Mufti of Bosnia-Herzegovina, Dr.Mustafa Ceric, said Islam is indeed part of Europe but unfortunately Turkey is not yet part of Europe.

“Following this logic Europe has to prove that Islam is part of Europe by not delaying the acceptance of Turkey to the EU,” Ceric told the joint press conference.

The British National Party has shown solid steady growth in all areas of the country in the regions where local elections have been held, taking seats from mainly traditional Labour areas, as that party’s vote collapses everywhere.

Before today, the BNP held 84 council seats at all levels. With almost all results in, this figure has now reached 100, and could still exceed that number.

Riots in Haiti over explosive rises in food costs have claimed the lives of six people. There have also been food riots world-wide in Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Cote d’Ivorie, Egypt, Guinea, Mauritania, Mexico, Morocco, Senegal, Uzbekistan and Yemen.

The Economist, which calls the current crisis the silent tsunami, reports that last year wheat prices rose 77% and rice 16%, but since January rice prices have risen 141%. The reasons include rising fuel costs, weather problems, increased demand in China and India, as well as the push to create biofuels from cereal crops.

Hermite Joseph, a mother working in the markets of Port au Prince, told journalist Nick Whalen that her two kids are “like toothpicks” they’ re not getting enough nourishment. Before, if you had a dollar twenty-five cents, you could buy vegetables, some rice, 10 cents of charcoal and a little cooking oil. Right now, a little can of rice alone costs 65 cents, and is not good rice at all. Oil is 25 cents. Charcoal is 25 cents. With a dollar twenty-five, you can’t even make a plate of rice for one child.”

The Nip/Tuck actress has admitted she is considering adoption after visiting Malawi to help raise awareness about the lack of fresh water in the country.

Admitting she had concerns about “doing a Madonna” the U.S based star said with her daughter Daisy now aged 16, she was considering giving a disadvantaged child a better life.

Global White Population to Plummet to Single Digit — Black Population to Double.

The big population story of the 21st Century is shaping up to be the status reversal of whites and blacks and the Indian baby boom.

As a percentage of world inhabitants, the white population will plummet to a single digit (9.76%) by 2060 from a high-water mark of 27.98% in 1950.

Using 2010 as the base reference, the big gainer in the population derby will be blacks or sub-Sahara Africans. This group will expand almost 133% to 2.7 billion by 2060. By the middle of this century blacks will represent 25.38% of world population, which is up dramatically from the 8.97% they recorded in 1950.

The other groups measured in the study were the Central Asians (Indians), East Asians (Chinese and Japanese), the Southeast Asians, Arabic (North Africa and the Middle East), and Amerindian-Mestizo (Mexican and Central America). All these groups will experience a population growth. The Chinese/Japanese and Indians will trade rankings and the relative global presence of the other groups will remain more or less constant.

The big population story of the 21st Century is shaping up to be the status reversal of whites and blacks and the Indian baby boom. A side bar will be the single digit minority role that whites will assume. Of the 7 population groups studied, only whites are projected to sustain an absolute decline in numbers.

In 1950 whites and blacks were respectively 27.98% and 8.97% of world population. By 2060 these figures will almost reverse as blacks surge to 25.38% and whites shrink to 9.76%. From 2010 the white population will decline while blacks will add 1.2 billion to their numbers. In this time frame the the Indian subcontinent will gain 1.2 billion people. These groups and their governments will be looking for elbow room, and the diminished presence of whites in Europe, and especially in the relatively wide open spaces North America, will provide such an opportunity. Specifically, countries like Canada, the United States, Argentina, Brazil, Australia, New Zealand, and Russia can expect to be pressured to accept collectively hundreds of millions of refugees from India, and sub-Sahara Africa.

WASHINGTON (April 22) - An 84-year-old former U.S. Army mechanical engineer was arrested Tuesday on charges he slipped classified documents about nuclear weapons to an employee of the Israeli Consulate who also received information from convicted Pentagon spy Jonathan Pollard, authorities announced.

Ben-ami Kadish was charged in U.S. District Court in Manhattan with four counts of conspiracy, including allegations that he disclosed U.S. national defense documents to Israel and acted as an agent of the Israeli government.

Prosecutors say Kadish, a U.S. citizen who worked at an Army base in New Jersey, took home classified documents for six years and let the Israeli photograph them in his basement. Those documents included information about nuclear weapons, a modified version of an F-15 fighter jet, and the U.S. Patriot missile air defense system. Kadish’s apparent motivation was to help Israel, prosecutors said.

The new mayor of Rome, Gianni Alemanno, a former fascist, has launched a campaign to promote Italian films at the expense of those featuring Hollywood stars such as Nicole Kidman and Leonardo DiCaprio, who are to be blacklisted.

American actors who flocked to Rome for its film festival will no longer be invited, on the orders of Alemanno, 50, of the National Alliance party, who last week became the first rightwinger to win the mayor’s job in 15 years.

Outside city hall, his followers greeted him with fascist salutes and shouts of “Duce! Duce!” – the title used by the dictator Benito Mussolini, who ruled Italy from 1922 to 1943.

Alemanno, a former minister of agriculture, has a colourful past. He was arrested in 1981 with four other neo-fascists for allegedly beating up a student with baseball bats, but no charges were pressed.

The following year he was incarcerated for eight months, accused of throwing a Molotov cocktail at the Soviet embassy, but was eventually acquitted. He was also arrested in 1989, this time for trying to block the motorcade of President George H W Bush, and was again found not guilty.

German Interior Minister Wolfgang Schaeuble shut down two far-right organizations on grounds that they deny the Holocaust took place.

The minister accused the groups of being “reservoirs of organized Holocaust deniers” who distribute anti-Semitic propaganda and praise the Nazis over the Internet.

Authorities raided 30 locations looking for evidence early on Wednesday, May 7, taking evidence with them, a statement from Schaeuble said.

“Rightwing extremism has many faces, among them young neo-Nazis and similarly old Nazis,” Schaeuble said. “They have in common their rejection of our free democratic principles.”

The Democratic presidential hopeful shared his admiration for the two authors yesterday at a meeting with Philadelphia-area Jewish leaders, addressing the crowd from the bima as his campaign passed out buttons with the candidate’s name spelled in Hebrew letters, according to a pool report released by the campaign.

One rabbi in the room for the talk, Leonard Gordon, from the Germantown Jewish Centre, said in an interview yesterday that Mr. Obama’s peroration on Jewish American writers and thought “was inspiring.” After the Illinois senator made those remarks, any anxieties among those in the room were assuaged, Rabbi Gordon said, adding that the former Chicago community activist lit up at the end of the speech.

Mr. Obama may be fighting an uphill battle in Pennsylvania, where registered Democrats will go to the polls on Tuesday. Senator Clinton, his rival for the Democratic nomination, has the support of both the Democratic governor and the Democratic mayors of Philadelphia and Pittsburgh. Also, many American Jews have received a series of e-mails spreading false rumors about Mr. Obama, suggesting that he attended a madrassa as a young boy and questioning his support for Israel.

Human beings may have had a brush with extinction 70,000 years ago, an extensive genetic study suggests.

The human population at that time was reduced to small isolated groups in Africa, apparently because of drought, according to an analysis released Thursday.

The report notes that a separate study by researchers at Stanford University estimated that the number of early humans may have shrunk as low as 2,000 before numbers began to expand again in the early Stone Age.

“This study illustrates the extraordinary power of genetics to reveal insights into some of the key events in our species’ history,” said Spencer Wells, National Geographic Society explorer in residence.

“Tiny bands of early humans, forced apart by harsh environmental conditions, coming back from the brink to reunite and populate the world. Truly an epic drama, written in our DNA.”

Tehran has complained to the UN about remarks made last week by Hillary Clinton on the circumstances under which the US might attack Iran.

The Democratic presidential hopeful said last week the US could “totally obliterate” Iran if it attacked Israel.

Tehran, which insists its nuclear programme is solely for power generation, denounced her words as “provocative and irresponsible”.

It said the remarks were “a flagrant violation” of the UN Charter.

In a letter to UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon, Mehdi Danesh-Yazdi, Iran’s deputy ambassador to the UN, said Mrs Clinton had “unwarrantedly and under erroneous and false pretexts threatened to use force against the Islamic Republic of Iran”.
