Wife of Obama wants gays in US military

The wife of Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama told  a crowd of homosexual activists last week that her husband wants to repeal the  Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) and reverse the rule on homosexuals in the  military. Michelle Obama also drew parallels with homosexual advocacy groups and  the civil rights movement, referring to events “from Selma to Stonewall.”

Speaking to the Democratic National Committee’s Gay and Lesbian Leadership  Committee last Thursday in New York City, Michelle Obama said her husband  supports “a world where federal laws don’t discriminate against same-sex  relationships, including equal treatment for any relationship recognized under  state law.”

“That is why he supports robust civil unions,” she said. “That is why he has  said the federal government should not stand in the way of states that want to  decide for themselves how best to pursue equality for gay and lesbian couples –  whether that means a domestic partnership, a civil union or a civil marriage.”

McDonald’s Signs On To Gay Agenda

McDonald’s restaurant’s, famed for the Golden Arches, Ronald McDonald and kids meals, has signed onto a nationwide effort to promote “gay” and “lesbian” business ventures.

The company, which is listed on the website of the National Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce as a “corporate partner and organization ally” for an undisclosed financial contribution, also recently placed one of its executives on the NGLCC board of directors.

Earlier this month, the chamber confirmed that Richard Ellis, vice president of communications of McDonald’s USA, was elected to the special interest chamber board.

“We could not be more delighted with the addition of Richard to the Board,” said NGLCC co-founder Justin Nelson. “Richard brings his extensive experience in communications and public affairs to a dynamic team of leaders.”

Said Ellis: “I’m thrilled to join the National Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce team and ready to get to work. I share the NGLCC’s passion for business growth and development within the LGBT community and I look forward to playing a role in moving these important initiatives forward.”

Israel to legalize gay couples adoption rights

Welfare Minister Isaac Herzog wants to initiate a revolution for single-sex couples when it comes to adoption: According to the new policy Herzog has decided to promote, homosexual and lesbian couples will be able to legally adopt third-party children - meaning those children who are not the biological offspring of either of the couple’s members. This constitutes a breakthrough in the legal attitude toward the desire of same-sex couples to adopt. Until now, the legal precedent related only to situations in which one partner wanted to adopt the biological child of his/her partner, and to the Population Registry recognizing such an adoption carried out abroad. In recent months, four requests have been sent to the Social Affairs Ministry by same-sex couples who want the Children’s Welfare Service to find a child they can adopt. In addition, the same-sex couples have asked to be put on the list for adoption through government institutions. Following internal discussion in the ministry about the matter’s legal aspects, opinions have been prepared both by the Social Affairs Ministry’s legal adviser, attorney Batya Artman, and by the Justice Ministry. Last week, these legal opinions were sent to Attorney General Menachem Mazuz; they are currently awaiting his decision. Although the Justice Ministry does not consider the attention generated by the subject as a basic solution to the overall issue - it considers it as a specific solution to the couples in question - Herzog plans to treat these cases as precedents that will dictate the future work procedures for adoption by homosexuals and lesbians.

Despite growing hostility toward homosexuality in Germany, where 78.9% of young Turks and 47.7% of Germans react negatively on a public poll, where they were asked what was their reaction when they see a male homosexual couple kiss in public.
