South African Air Force only has 20 fighter-pilots left; submarine fleet needs 126 new submariners …
July 30 2008 The SA defence minister admitted in parliament today that the country’s entire air force only has twenty operational fighter-pilots left. And the navy is advertising for 126 new submariners including 59 technicians — for its fleet of 3 submarines, crewed by 30 people each…
Yet the SA Air Force is also supposed to be taking into operation 24 new Hawk and 26 Gripen fighter jets, recently purchased through the country’s fraud-riddled multi-billion Rand military hardware buyup.
* There’s one bright spot though, claimed SA defence minister Terror Lekota in answer to questions by the Freedom Front Plus’s MP Groenewald: four new fighter-pilots are now being trained…
A huge number of SA fighter-pilots and -technicians have meanwhile been joining the Australian air force which is still actively recruiting them.

Officials in Brussels are working on plans to ensure that the European Treaty is still implemented elsewhere if Ireland votes against it in the referendum.
Although measures such as creating an EU president, “foreign minister” and European diplomatic service may be delayed, they are still expected to be introduced.
One diplomat said a “bridging mechanism” was being discussed. If Ireland rejects the treaty, it may simply be removed from the list of signatories and will not be legally obliged to abide by it.
By late 2009 or early 2010, when Croatia joins the EU, an amending “Accession Treaty” will be signed by all members including Dublin.
Incorporated into it would be a series of protocol texts giving paper “opt-outs” on controversial Irish EU issues, such as taxation powers or greater military co-operation.

A debate is raging over Switzerland’s naturalisation rate in the run-up to a nationwide ballot on citizenship procedures early next month.
Rightwingers argue no country in Europe approves more citizenship applications than Switzerland. But officials say the comparisons are misleading.
Over the past few weeks the rightwing Swiss People’s Party has been recycling arguments that proved successful four years ago when it challenged a proposal to facilitate the naturalisation of second- and third-generation foreigners in Switzerland.
A large-scale poster campaign shows hands grabbing the coveted red passports with the white cross.
The People’s Party wants to give voters the final say on applications, with no right of appeal for rejected candidates.
Official statistics seemingly support claims that Swiss papers are easy to acquire.
The number of foreign residents acquiring Swiss citizenship has been on the increase over the past decade. The figure rose from about 19,000 in 1997 to reach 46,000 in 2006, and level out at 45,042 last year.

The U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO) — the auditing arm of the U.S. Congress — warns that the nation’s deficits and debts are now so overwhelming, America may face fiscal Armageddon.
Unfortunately, the warning has fallen on deaf ears — so much so that long-time GAO head David M. Walker has recently resigned, hoping he can get his message out more effectively on his own. His main points:
1. The federal deficit is not something that comes and goes. It’s built in. It’s very large. And its growth trajectory takes America on a veritable collision course with bankruptcy! According to the GAO, unless radical fiscal reform is instituted quickly, the U.S. federal deficit could reach 20% of GDP , or five times greater than the worst level of this century.
2. State and local deficits are on a similar path. Thus, any efforts to shift some of the fiscal burden from federal to local governments will be futile.
3. This astronomical — and potentially devastating — growth in our debt has little to do with the ups and downs in the economy and has everything to do with locked-in, predictable aging of our population.

News from the West provides the evidence that a disproportionate number of the most radical elements in the militant homosexual rights lobby are of Jewish origin. . .
Here is an exhaustive list proving, once and for all, that the radical homosexual movement in the United States is a Jewish movement. Jews created it and run it from top to bottom. They are pushing the perversion and degeneracy that is spreading disease, sin and sickness through America like a wildfire.

TEHRAN, April 30 (RIA Novosti) - A senior Russian government official said on Wednesday after talks with the Iranian leadership that the Islamic Republic was not developing nuclear weapons.
Valentin Sobolev, who serves as the acting head of Russia’s Security Council, arrived in Tehran with a delegation of high-ranking Russian officials last Sunday to discuss with the Iranian leadership international and regional issues, as well as bilateral economic cooperation and the Iranian nuclear program.
“We believe that Iran is currently not involved in nuclear research for military purposes, but we are certain that our opinion must be shared by all countries involved in the resolution of this [Iranian uranium enrichment] problem,” Sobolev said.
“We also believe that Iran must show more initiative and actively participate in talks with the Iran Six to clarify all outstanding controversial issues regarding its nuclear research,” he said.

BEIJING (AP) - China appeared to be trying to rein in a growing nationalistic fervor, urging its citizens to be “calm” and “rational” in the face of anti-Western protests against French retailer Carrefour that spread Sunday to more cities across the country.
More than 1,000 demonstrators carrying banners gathered for the second day in Xi’an in front of a Carrefour outlet, chanting “Oppose Tibet Independence,”"Go China,” and “Condemn CNN,” the official Xinhua news agency reported.
In Wuhan, another 2,000 people, mostly students, waved the Chinese flag and sang the national anthem for the second day in a row.
Protests also were staged in the cities of Harbin, Dalian, and Jinan. An estimated 1,000 demonstrators blocked traffic in Dalian, while another 1,000 protesters in Harbin held up at a 33-foot-long banner in support of the Olympics, Xinhua said. Hundreds of police were monitoring the demonstrations in the five cities, which remained peaceful.

The winner in Italy’s national elections, Silvio Berlusconi, has promised to form a streamlined Cabinet that could get to work quickly to tackle the country’s problems. After his center-right coalition emerged with a large enough majority to govern, the former prime minister said he will select a team of people who know the problems with the machinery of the government.Conservative media mogul Silvio Berlusconi thanked his voters and said he will immediately get down to work.
He obtained a better result than commentators had predicted. But he must keep the Northern League party happy. That party won 8 percent of the vote, giving Mr. Berlusconi his majority in parliament.
Umberto Bossi, leader of the Northern League, said the people who voted for his party are those who want a different country, more democratic and more federalist. He said his party, which wants tougher restrictions on immigration, is in agreement with Mr. Berlusconi and they will work together.

Where does Barack Obama really stand on racial issues? Is he the post-racial bipartisan conciliator of his campaign image, or is he the black racial activist depicted in his autobiography? On this issue, for once, Obama’s stance is quite clear.Acolytes in the Obama Cult are taught that, when proselytizing over the phone for new converts, they should not answer direct questions about what Obama stands for, other than “hope” and “change,” but instead should tell the inquirer to go look up the candidate’s policy positions on BarackObama.com.
So let’s look carefully at Obama’s “Civil Rights” webpage.
(In case you are wondering, all three surviving candidates’ websites have an “Issues” page, but only Obama’s has a “Civil Rights” subpage. In contrast, on Hillary’s website, one of the “Issues” sections is entitled “A Champion for Women,” but none of the “issues” she chooses to feature is specifically devoted to race. And McCain’s website doesn’t give civil rights prominent play.)

Driven by a painful mix of layoffs and rising food and fuel prices, the number of Americans receiving food stamps is projected to reach 28 million in the coming year, the highest level since the aid program began in the 1960s.The number of recipients, who must have near-poverty incomes to qualify for benefits averaging $100 a month per family member, has fluctuated over the years with economic conditions, eligibility rules, enlistment drives and disasters such as Hurricane Katrina, which led to a spike in the South.Recent rises in many states seem to result mainly from the economic slowdown, as well as inflation in prices of basic goods that leave more families feeling pinched, officials and experts say.
Citing expected unemployment growth, the Congressional Budget Office this month projected a continued increase in the monthly number of recipients in the next fiscal year, starting Oct. 1 - to 28 million, up from 27.8 million in 2008 and 26.5 million in 2007.

HARARE, Zimbabwe (AP) - White farmers in Zimbabwe say militants loyal to President Robert Mugabe’s ruling party have forced three cattle ranchers off their land.
A fourth is holding out with about 50 militants threatening to break down his farm gates.
The land grabs, revealed Sunday, come as Mugabe and his party confront massive elections losses and an expected presidential runoff.
Mugabe has ruled Zimbabwe since his guerrilla army helped overthrow white minority rule in 1980.
His popularity has been battered by an economic collapse following the often-violent seizures of white-owned commercial farms since 2000.

The government of the world’s most populous Islamic state says YouTube has two days to take down a Dutch lawmaker’s provocative film on the Koran or it will block access to the popular video-sharing Web site. The warning by Indonesia came as the U.N.’s primary human rights watchdog ended a month-long session amid allegations by Western member-states and non-governmental organizations that Islamic nations are working to curtail free speech.
Geert Wilder’s 16-minute film linking Islam’s revered text with terrorism has sparked protests in a number of countries. It also drew criticism from the Arab League, the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) and the European Union.
In Indonesia, a former Dutch colony, Information Minister Mohammad Nuh told a press briefing in Jakarta Tuesday he had sent a letter to YouTube demanding the film, “Fitna,” be removed. If it did not comply, he said, the government in cooperation with Internet service providers would block the site.
