A Muslim is to go on trial in a British legal first, accused of encouraging two boys to flog themselves during an Islamic ceremony to he held in Manchester.

Syed Mustafa Zaidi, 44, is accused of encouraging the boys, aged 15 and 13, who cannot be named for legal reasons, to beat themselves during a traditional Ashura ceremony at a community centre in Levenshulme, Manchester, on January 19.

The practice is common among Shia Muslims but allowing children to harm themselves is contrary to British law.

Ashura involves practitioners flagellating themselves using a Zanjeer Zani, an implement which has a wooden handle with chains and blades attached.

The Ashura ceremony takes place during the Muharram, the first month of the Islamic calendar, and commemorates the martyrdom of Husayn, the grandson of the Prophet Mohammed and a central figure in the Shia faith.

Zaidi, of Station Road, Eccles, Salford, denies two counts of child cruelty. Doubtless his defence will be that it is his religion.

Former German chancellor Gerhard Schroeder has accused Georgia of provoking the recent hostilities with Russia by sending troops into South Ossetia and described President Mikheil Saakashvili as a “gambler.”

In an interview with German newsmagazine Der Spiegel that was published Saturday, Aug. 16, Schroeder said that the Georgian invasion of South Ossetia was “the moment that initiated the current hostilities.”

He declined to comment on whether Russia’s response was disproportionate, saying that military conflicts developed their own dynamic.

Schroeder’s successor, Chancellor Angela Merkel, Friday described the Russian reaction as “disproportionate in some aspects.”

The report that was supposed to “get to the bottom of things” didn’t.
The fact that the authors themselves admitted that they really didn’t want to probe the problem Israel caused for the U.S. of course was the major problem with the report. The political problem driving all of the other problems can’t be touched because it is too politically dangerous.
Another problem was that it was assumed that much would be hidden from them and they would never know. But in this instance, they found out. Who knows what else is out there that they don’t know they didn’t receive?
Remember that the CIA supported these “terrorist” groups in order to drive the Soviets out of Afghanistan. In the entangled world of espionage, there are numerous embarrassing relationships and facts that the CIA doesn’t want the public to know that are far less positive than the Soviet defeat in Afghanistan.

HATE BILL DEFEATED!

Sen. Kennedy’s hate crime amendment, approved by the U.S. House and Senate, was stripped from the National Defense Appropriations Act, H.R. 1585, midday Thursday. Congressional Quarterly reports that support for the arms/hate bill bureau had so eroded in the House that Democrats were forty votes short of passage.
This great victory confirms that massive last-minute opposition from the evangelical and far right may well have powerfully helped defeat it. Sens. Kennedy and Smith may attempt to revive it as stand-alone legislation after the first of the year. But its rejection by Conference greatly increases the likelihood that we can defeat it again - if lovers of freedom continue to protest loudly!

ROME (Reuters) - A local politician has shocked Italians, and Jews in particular, by proposing that immigrants be treated with the same severity the Nazis used when they occupied the country.
Giorgio Bettio, a city councilor in the northern city of Treviso, said during a council meeting earlier this week: “With immigrants, we should use the same system the SS used, punish 10 of them for every slight against one of our citizens.”
His comments revived memories of the 1944 Ardeatine Caves massacre, when Hitler ordered that 10 Italians be executed for each of the 33 German soldiers killed in a partisan attack against occupying forces on a Rome street.
Immigration has been a burning issue in the rich northern Veneto region where Treviso is located. Tensions have flared regularly between residents and immigrants, some of them seeking work in the area’s factories and fields.
Bettio, a member of the anti-immigrant Northern League, was roundly condemned by politicians and editorialists.
“Even if he was drunk or his brain short-circuited … he must be condemned without appeal,” Il Giornale, a conservative newspaper which normally supports the Northern League, said in a front-page editorial on Wednesday.

(IsraelNN.com) A Palestinian Authority radio contest featured a laudatory biography of Adolf Hitler replete with his military victories, heroism and no mention of the Holocaust. “His golden year was 1940, when his armies invaded Denmark, Norway, Luxembourg, Holland, and Belgium and defeated France…By mid 1942, his country controlled the largest land area in Europe…He refused to surrender and continued to fight for two more years, but, his bitter end came in the spring of 1945 when he took his own life…Who is he?” was the question broadcast as a Voice of Palestine radio contest on November 27. The question was part of the official Palestinian Authority-run radio’s Ramadan quiz - rebroadcast this past week, and documented by Palestinian Media Watch (PMW). The broadcast presents Hitler heroically, detailing his two Medals of Honor in World War I, his rise to power, his launching of World War II and specifies country after country that he conquered.

The infamous Nuremburg “War Crimes Trials” where top Nazi leaders were charged – and found guilty — after World War Two, has been confirmed as a Jew-run set up by non other than one of the leading gentile American prosecutors at the trial, Thomas Dodd. In a new book, issued by Dodd’s son, Christopher, called Letters from Nuremberg: My Father’s Narrative of a Quest for Justice, Dodd senior’s opinion of the Jews at Nuremburg is revealed in a series of private letters back to his wife during the trials themselves:
“There are too many Jews around here. Col. Kaplan is now here, as a mate I assume for Commander Kaplan. Dr. Newman has arrived… it is all a silly business,” Dodd, who would emerge as second in command on the American prosecution team wrote. On September 25, 1945, he wrote:

The policy of no platform has been well and truly undermined following the successful appearance of BNP leader Nick Griffin [and historian David Irving] at the Oxford Union.
Invited by the Union’s debating society to discuss the issue of free speech Mr. Griffin was able to address a packed chamber of around two hundred students and academics.
The evening was partially delayed as a baying mob of 1000 agitators bussed in from all over England tried to prevent ticket-holders entering the historic building. No arrests were made and the police failed to contain a violent gang of around 30 thugs who managed to get inside the Union building. University security staff eventually cleared the protestors and Nick Griffin was able to deliver this speech.
