Danes clash with reality as their nation slowly comes to terms with their loss of sovereignty in joining the European Union.

Prime Minister Anders Fogh Rasmussen (V) is without5 an answer to how he will maintain Denmarks immigration policy after ECJ rulings. Lawyers and Pia Kjærsgaard (DPP): The tough immigration policy is “capsized”.

Prime minister Anders Fogh Rasmussen (V) didn’t manage to remove the impression that Danish immigration policy is in crisis, when he returned back to the political scene after his summer vacation.

The ECJ have bit by bit dismantled the Danish mechanisms, which should have prevented that the ECJ could be used to bypass the rules for family reunions – so much that both politicians and juridical experts calls the rules “undermined”, “capsized” and “hollowed out”.

White people of European descent will no longer make up a majority of the US population by the year 2042 - eight years sooner than previous estimates.

The big change is among Hispanics and Asians whose share of the population is set to double to 30% and 9%.

The US Census Bureau’s latest projections are based on birth, death and current immigration rates.  The projections show that the US population is expected to rise from 305 million people to 439 million by 2050, but it will be a population that looks quite different both in age, race and ethnicity.

According to the census bureau’s statistics, people who regard themselves as Hispanic, African-American, Asian, American Indian, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander will become the majority by 2042. Officials had previously projected that this change would happen in 2050.

A Muslim is to go on trial in a British legal first, accused of encouraging two boys to flog themselves during an Islamic ceremony to he held in Manchester.

Syed Mustafa Zaidi, 44, is accused of encouraging the boys, aged 15 and 13, who cannot be named for legal reasons, to beat themselves during a traditional Ashura ceremony at a community centre in Levenshulme, Manchester, on January 19.

The practice is common among Shia Muslims but allowing children to harm themselves is contrary to British law.

Ashura involves practitioners flagellating themselves using a Zanjeer Zani, an implement which has a wooden handle with chains and blades attached.

The Ashura ceremony takes place during the Muharram, the first month of the Islamic calendar, and commemorates the martyrdom of Husayn, the grandson of the Prophet Mohammed and a central figure in the Shia faith.

Zaidi, of Station Road, Eccles, Salford, denies two counts of child cruelty. Doubtless his defence will be that it is his religion.

The launch of the Beijing Olympics went without a hitch - but wait for the official handover ceremony at the end of the games, when the next host nation - Britain- puts on a display of its “culture” to attract visitors in 2012.

London’s strategy for the handover of the Olympic flag at this summer’s closing ceremony does not have a red London bus or Pearly Queen — instead, a black hip-hop “dance” group, appropriately calling itself “Zoo nation”, has been paid £2 million to leap about in a bizarre frenzy in front of a TV audience of more than 100 million.

An eight-minute performance led by Zoo Nation, famous for a West End show which features a drug-dealing pimp and a gangster rap soundtrack, will mark the beginning of the London 2012 Olympiad.

Its show, “Into the Hoods”, is set on the fictional Ruff Endz Estate with characters including Spinderella, Rap-on-zel and Jaxx.

The Chinese have already expressed their doubts, with organisers concerned that London’s performance could clash with their own plans for an “extremely formal” final event.

It’s hard to believe that we enlightened, practical, eyes-wide-open Americans are living in a fable, a virtual fairy tale but more and more evidence is making the case that we are.

The “fairy tale” I refer to is actually a witty satire written by the brilliant author/politician Jonathan Swift in 1726. Because it was such an entertaining piece, it became a famous children’s story; but that was not the original intention of the author. Swift himself said “The chief end I propose to myself in all my labors is, to vex the world rather than divert it.”

That is, he wanted to focus his society on its folly. And that he did, eloquently. But little could he have imagined how accurately he would picture our society in America today. It’s startling. It’s disheartening. And it’s threatening to our very survival.

Flat-pack furniture giant Ikea launched its new catalogue on Thursday amid much coverage in the Swedish national press.

Each August, the arrival of the new Ikea catalogue is eagerly awaited in Sweden, and has become something of a national event. The catalogue is printed 198 million times and published all over the world, but Swedes really look forward to what must be one of the country’s most well-thumbed publications.

This year’s the catalogue’s theme is diversity - ‘mångfald’ - with Ikea claiming to offer even more living and interior solutions for the diverse way we live today.

In a press statement, Jeanette Söderberg, CEO for Ikea Sweden explained the thought behind the new catalogue’s diversity message.

“We are all different. We have different lifestyles, different tastes and different living situations. The diversity around us today isn’t just good, it is fantastic, giving more creativity and new points of view regarding our existence”, she said.

Johannesburg - A survey by TNS Research has found that a new low of 49% of metropolitan adults feel positive about South Africa and its future compared with 60% in February. The reading in February was then a new low and the yearly average in 2007 was 66%. Analysis by race group shows that while blacks are generally the most positive, in the quarter to June their figure also shows its largest drop since 2004, from 73% to 63%.

While whites generally have figures around the mid-40s (except for 2005 when, for a time, they rose to 59%), the February reading showed a dramatic drop to 31%, this further declining to 21% in June.

The figures for coloureds have been trending downwards slowly since 2005 but now sit at 32%, also a new all time low. The Indian/Asian figures are more erratic, also showing a slow decline since 2005, reaching a new low of 34% now.

Analysis by area shows that, in June 2008, optimism was highest in the Johannesburg and Bloemfontein areas (69% and 63% respectively) and lowest in Cape Town (35%), with the Eastern Cape showing the largest drop.

In general, Western countries should not make refugee status available to Muslims who continue to identify themselves as Muslims. If they claim that they are ill-treated under a Muslim system, perhaps because of political despotism, or perhaps because of inshallah-fatalism, or perhaps because of the mistreatment of women that is not only “cultural” but is reinforced by Islam, when it is not entirely caused by it, or perhaps because they just prefer life in the advanced West where there is great legal and social solicitude for the individual, that is all the more reason to make them either openly recognize the Muslim roots of the miserable condition of the countries from which they come, and so abandon Islam, rather than come to the overpopulated, overtaxed, disrupted and far too-tolerant and too-generous societies of the Western world, and bring their troubles to us.

A 17-year-old British girl whose dismembered body was discovered in a suitcase in central Brazil was identified Thursday and her Brazilian boyfriend arrested for her murder, authorities said.

The British embassy in Brazil named the teenager as Cara Marie Burke, and said it was in contact with her family in London.

Police found the dismembered torso of the body in a suitcase close to a river, Major Claudio de Oliveira Silva of Goiania’s elite police squad told AFP.

The girl’s 20-year-old boyfriend, Mohamed D’Ali Carvalho dos Santos, confessed to murdering her last weekend, police said.

According to officers, Carvalho dos Santos killed Burke to prevent her telling his family, who also lived in London, that he used drugs.

His mobile telephone allegedly contained images of the girl when she arrived in Brazil by plane, and then later pictures of her cut-up body.

The figures are arranged in the number of incidents per 100 000 people.

- Murder: 18 487 cases reported, 38,6 incidents.

- Attempted murder: 18 795 cases reported, 39,3 incidents.

- Assault GBH: 210 104 cases reported, 439,1 incidents.

- Common assault: 198 049 cases reported, 413,9 incidents.

The official U S Census demographics tell us that 16.5% of the folks who reside in the nation are non-Hispanic blacks, certainly a minority. Many blacks, each for their own reason, have held back refusing to assimilate fully into the big-picture USA. Examples are everywhere.

On July 1, 2008, in Denver, Colorado, Mayor John Hickenlooper stood with 700 guests for the singing of the “Star Spangled Banner” at his annual State of the City address.

A local jazz singer, Rene Marie, contracted to sing the national anthem, instead shocked the audience with the “Black National Anthem.”

Everyone in the audience gasped !

AUSTRALIAN Islamic College founder Abdallah Magar and two of his principals have been charged with fraud in relation to $3 million of Government funding.

The Major Fraud Squad laid the charges after an 18-month investigation into offences alleged to have occurred in relation to the management of the AIC schools in Thornlie, Kewdale and Dianella.

It is alleged the colleges defrauded $653,073 from the WA Government and $2,513,087 from the Federal Government from 2005 to 2006.

Mr Magar and the two principals allegedly defrauded State and Federal government student subsidised funding programs by claiming for students who were not attending the colleges.

Mr Magar, 69, of Attadale, was charged today with 10 counts of gaining benefit by fraud for another person and five counts of obtaining a financial advantage by deception.
